Jaymie is one of those people who keeps on giving! Jaymie was a student at Riverton High School and then returned years later to be a teacher at the high school just 12 years ago. She has an incredible niche for her content area, which is sewing, fashion design and baking and pastry. She took her passions in life and turned them into a career. She is obviously amazing inside the classroom making adjustments and accommodations for the varying needs of her students whether it be language or special needs but she is also amazing outside of the classroom. Jaymie is always willing to help other teachers if they need a sewing project done for a school event, to cover a class, work with extra curricular student clubs and more. Like I said before, Jaymie is a master at her sewing/fashion craft but continues to go to each and every professional development opportunity that allows her to see what is happening new in the industry. She always takes what she learns in the professional environment and brings it back to her classroom to show her students and her co-workers. This has included using technology in fashion design, how the design process works, new sewing projects, and fashion specialties. She has organized 2 trips for her students to attend a NYC fashion trip where they are able to learn about fashion in one of the Fashion capitols of the world. Jaymie is all of this PLUS she is kind, helpful, sincere, and willing to do what she can to make Riverton HIgh a place where people feel they belong. Jaymie has experienced some hardships in her personal life, but she never lets it show and she perserveres! She is amazing and deserves this wonderful award.
