AR glasses aren’t hard to come by these days, but Xiaomi’s latest reveal is a far cry from the countless off-brand options you’ll find on Amazon. Not only do the tech brand’s Wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition supposedly boast an industry-leading 58 PPD (pixels-per-degree) resolution, they don’t look too ridiculous when you’re wearing them.

Regarding our point about the PPD rate, though, Xiaomi claims that these glasses deliver Retina-level quality, serving as a “seamless crossover between virtual and real worlds.” And as problematic as that could be, it’s hard to argue against how innovative the thought is. Tech-wise, a pair of micro-OLED panels with 1,200 nits sit behind electrochromic lenses; in other words, the latter promotes a more immersive experience that can either block ambient light or let it through, allowing you to break the barrier between what’s there and what isn’t — think of it as transparency mode on a pair …
