PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A new digital rendering shows what a 76ers arena in Camden might look like.
The rendering depicts a sleek, curvy building north of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, illustrating the “potential transformation of Camden’s waterfront,” the New Jersey Economic Development Authority said in a statement.
The NJEDA said the proposal is the site of the former state prison, north of the Ben Franklin Bridge.
Brightly lit walkways and grassy piers welcome visitors, and a high-rise apartment and office buildings are placed behind it.
“The proposed project is more than just a state-of-the-art arena,” added CEO Tim Sullivan. “It’s open space, new housing, restaurants, and office space, which will help bring new, good-paying jobs to the city. This transformational project will spur greater economic activity and a bustling, revitalized neighborhood, resulting in a major economic opportunity for Camden and its residents for years to come.”
