WASHINGTON D.C. (WMC) – Tennessee Congressman Steve Cohen discussed railroad priorities in Washington D.C. at a hearing on the country’s passenger and freight rail network on Thursday.
Congressman Cohen talked about the ongoing study to create a passenger rail corridor between Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga and Atlanta, authorized by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
Cohen says it would be a win-win for millions of people.
“This Atlanta Sun Belt Atlantic Connector will connect major population centers, fostering economic growth, and reducing traffic congestion in our region,” said Cohen. “Tennessee and Georgia alike are eager for the eventual completion of this project, and hopefully, we can move to the next phase expeditiously.”
Cohen went on to say this rail system will provide an unprecedented opportunity to modernize and strengthen our economy and improve connectivity to millions of Americans.
