TULSA, Okla. — In a FOX23 Investigation, Tulsa’s Investigative Reporter Janna Clark looked into why some people are sitting on hold with 911.
We told you last week about a retired Tulsa Fire captain who tried to save his friend after he got electrocuted while tree trimming. He pointed out to FOX23 when he called 911, he sat on hold.
Retired Tulsa Fire Captain Adam Balogh raced to the backyard when he heard his friend, Oscar Lopez, who had been tree trimming, was in serious trouble.
“Right when I saw him I knew what was going on,” he said.
Balogh said Lopez had somehow been electrocuted.
Balogh climbed the roof of a cabana and helped get his lifeless friend out of the tree.
He said seconds are critical, especially in CPR.
“For every minute that goes by, I think there’s a 10 percent less survival rate of that person,” he said.
Balogh started giving Lopez CPR.
“You’re doing chest compressions and you’re breathing that person, and you know, it’s been too long,” …
