Creating a Brand Narrative Part 3

Today I’m going to show you how to create a brand narrative that will set your business apart.

I remember when I started my first business. I went from blog post to blog post trying to figure out what a brand narrative is and how to create one. I was overloaded with information and confused as to where to start and what the actual steps are to creating a brand narrative that is both unique and easy to relate to.

Every Small Business Must have a Brand Narrative:

Business in general is extremely competitive. It’s a struggle to stand out and let customers see you. Crafting a brand narrative is essential for setting your small business apart.

Let’s have a look at these reasons:

• Customers build a stronger connection with your brand when they know your story.

• It shows customers what promises you make and how well you fulfill them. When you can consistently deliver on your promises, customers build trust with your brand.

• Having an effective brand narrative will boost your sales.

• For smaller businesses that have no large budget. They can leverage their brand narrative and attract customers.

Step 6: Brand Narrative Structure

To put together your brand narrative structure. Using the hero journey is a great idea to help you put it together in a powerful way.

The hero’s journey is about an ordinary person who leaves their comfortable environment to go on a journey into different territories. And then returns home transformed.

You’ll notice that most movies follow this structure. The steps below will show you how to use the hero’s journey:

Adventure Steps:

• Starting Out: The hero leaves home, feeling a bit unsure and not wanting to go on this adventure. Change is hard!

• Going Down: The hero heads to a new place, somewhere they’ve never been before.

• Facing Challenges: Along the way, the hero deals with lots of tough situations and big tests, leading up to a final showdown with the main problem or bad guy.

• Coming Back: Finally, the hero comes back home. Home looks the same, but the hero is different now, changed by everything they went through.

In this instance, your customer is the hero and your product must play a role in their journey to being transformed.

Step 7: Visual and Verbal Branding

Don’t leave your brand narrative on your website or a page and never look at it again. It forms the foundation of where everything comes from.

Your brand narrative needs to be part of your entire branding process from your logo, your fonts, and even the kinds of images you choose for your brand. Every element must go hand in hand with what your brand narrative is.

The words you choose in all your content and how you say things must reflect your brand narrative. It must be incorporated into everything.

Can you see how your brand narrative is the basis of your marketing, branding, and content? In all that you do, ask yourself, does this reflect my brand narrative?
