ME-02 — Austin Theriault’s campaign took to social media on Thursday, November 7, stating they’ll be filing a recount in the Second Congressional District race against incumbent Jared Golden.
As the Associated Press continues updating poll results late Thursday night, the margin between Golden and Theriault continues to narrow. According to the AP, Golden holds a less than 1% lead over Theriault.
This, according to Theriault’s campaign, is why they took to X and Facebook on Thursday announcing their intent to file a recount.
In a statement from Theriault’s campaign manager Shawn Roderick, he says, “Given that this is the closest race in modern Maine history, we must ensure a full, accurate count. Despite being significantly outspent, this race is still extremely close. We must work together to ensure the Mainers’ voices are heard and the final result reflects the will of the people.”
