To ensure uninterrupted access to high-quality cancer care for patients in Lynchburg and Farmville, Centra Health has announced the launch of the Centra Medical Group Hematology and Oncology Clinic, set to begin operations on April 1.
This decision comes in light of the Lynchburg Hematology and Oncology Clinic’s intent to conclude its contract with Centra after 10 years. Centra is adding 12 new providers in April and will have a total of 16 by May.
The creation of these clinics in Lynchburg and Farmville will allow Centra to grow cancer care services through improved access to cancer care in the region and expanded clinical research.
Thomas Angelo, vice president of Oncology Services at Centra, said patients’ care and well-being remain the organization’s top priority amidst the transition. Lynchburg Hematology’s contract ends in March.
“We’re absolutely going to meet the need of these patients,” he said.
